The night was his refuge and also his curse. Leon wandered through silent streets, his throat burning as if he carried embers instead of thirst. He had tasted everything: blood too sweet it cloyed, other blood so salty it left an unbearable aftertaste. None of it sustained him.

That night, his weakness was evident. His steps were clumsy, his vision blurred. Every light seemed distant. He tried to keep going, but his body gave out.

—…I need… — Leon murmured, before falling.

Leon did not respond.

He took him home, quickly closing the door. He laid him down gently.

"Hold on... please," he said, watching her weak breathing.

Leon barely opened his eyes.

Silence filled the room. Outside, the night continued its course.
