Jean-Pierre Polnareff

Jean-Pierre Polnareff (ジャン＝ピエール・ポルナレフ, Jan Piēru Porunarefu?) is a main character in Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. He also plays a key role in Part 5: Vento Aureo.

During Stardust Crusaders, Polnareff travels alongside Jotaro and Joseph trying to find his sister's killer, who turns out to be a man with two right hands.

Polnareff is a man of above-average height with a rather muscular build. He styles his hair upwards, parting it straight across his head. He also wears broken heart-shaped earrings, one half in each ear. His eyes are blue, his skin is pale, and he has no eyebrows.

Polnareff wears a tight-fitting, sleeveless black shirt, off-the-shoulder except for a strap that runs from his chest over his left shoulder. He also wears gray pants.

Polnareff is a presumptuous but honorable and well-intentioned Frenchman.

Polnareff's most defining trait is his honor. In his first appearance, he takes the time to explain his skill and fight his adversary Avdol on ground more suited to the latter. Adopting a chivalrous mindset, Polnareff refuses to flee from a fight or use dishonorable tactics, even though he can be persuaded. In fact, he was somewhat pleased to see Chaka challenge him directly. Polnareff is also very eager to avenge his fallen loved ones, for example, by traveling the world to find the one who killed his sister Sherry.

Similarly, Polnareff comes across as arrogant, confrontational, and can be quite impulsive. He is very proud of his Silver Chariot, rightfully so, as he trained hard with it, but his overconfidence unfortunately means he is ill-equipped to fight the cowardly Stand users he encounters, as he doesn't anticipate their moves leading him into a number of disadvantageous positions, particularly against the Emperor of Hol Horse or Anubis. Polnareff has trouble seeing his own shortcomings and believes he is the best. It is not unusual for Polnareff to argue with his classmates or ignore various people he knows. He also initially held a low opinion of Avdol. Similarly, Polnareff attacked Iggy during their first encounter.

Polnareff is also the least serious member of the group. He's perhaps the one who unites most of his companions, casually joking with Kakyoin, Joseph, and even Jotaro. Being very extroverted, he has no trouble expressing joy or sadness, making him the most compassionate of the group, often openly crying for his companions. This trait led the other members of the Joestar group to keep the fact that Avdol hadn't died and was recovering a secret. Polnareff is easily distracted and often finds a way to lighten the mood.
