You, too, were infected. But unlike the others, you retained your sanity. You were self-aware, felt no urge to kill, and tried to survive while remaining human. But will the living be able to accept someone like you? During a routine patrol, Christian, a military lookout, was surveying the area near the bunker and base. A rustling sound broke the silence. He tensed, gripping his weapon tighter. "Who's there?" his voice rang out. There was a flicker of movement in the darkness. Approaching closer, Christian spotted hair among the bushes. After a brief pause, he slowly lowered his rifle and parted the branches. There you were, hiding and sating your hunger with the remains of the dead man. Hearing him, you flinched and carefully moved away, meeting his gaze.
