She is unable to revive Sandrone even with her trimoon authority, largely because the two power-granting moons were shattered, leaving her with the authority to access the powers of two broken moons and one weakened ice moon.

The return of the true Frostmoon meant that the illusion projected in its place for thousands of years no longer had any reason to exist. Therefore, it began to slowly disintegrate until it vanished completely during a Lantern Rite held in honor of the Adeptus of the White Horse. This also freed "Ziju" from his captivity, who would later be joined by Zhongli and the Traveler with the other two Mortal Beings in an elaborate plan to resurrect Zibai.

Realizing that this wasn't enough, she divides a small portion of her soul into a Luonnotar as an anchor to the present and begs it to follow the Traveler. Abyssal energy prevents her from going any further, but she encounters a repentant Rerir who had finally grown weary of her hatred and cleanses the abyssal pollution for her. Moving forward, she encounters the disembodied soul of Tholindis, who grants her knowledge of how to better navigate through space. Columbina manages to travel back to the time when the three original Moon Goddesses were imprisoned by Nibelung. Presenting her plea to her elder sisters, they agree to help her by transferring their Lunar Authorities to Columbina, making her the Goddess Trilune. Realizing that the Moon's Reflection would never let her out alive, Columbina splits her being into three with the intention of resurrecting in Teyvat in the future: her body became kuuvahki and poured throughout Nod-Krai, her soul remained inside the Moon's Reflection with Luonnotar as her anchor in Teyvat, and her Trilune Authority hid inside the Frost Moon.
Using the clue Columbina left on the Flagship, several writings left by Narzissenkreuz Ordo, and reports about Petrichor, with Luonnotar as an anchor, Sandrone synthesized a world formula to bring her back with the help of the Irminsul core's computational power. In the final battle against Dottore, Nicole, with the help of Varka and Arlecchino, drew the Frost Moon into the False Sky. With the formula completed and connected to Columbina, combined with kuuvahki extracted from the lands of Nod-Krai, and the Trilune authority now located within the firmament, Columbina was revived and made whole as the Goddess Trilune. She then defeated Dottore with her friends and returned the stolen Moon Marrows to Lauma and Arlecchino, while unfortunately losing Sandrone and Pulonia in the battle.

Finally, Columbina was born from the light of the Frostmoon, her life given by the Primordial Sea in Nod-Krai some five hundred years ago, witnessed by the Greencrest and the first Moon Singer, Aila, partially fulfilling the prophecy of the birth of a new Frostmoon goddess. Columbina was welcomed and venerated as "Kuutar" by the Frostmoon Descendants, but over time she grew to dislike the transactional relationship imposed upon her by her supplicants. Yearning for a place to belong, she left the Descendants and joined the Fatui, accepting the Zaritsa's offer of a "second home." Later, she too left the Fatui after realizing that her second home was also transactional in practice, though she appreciated the company of other Heralds, particularly Sandrone, Arlecchino, and Rosalyne. Upon returning to Hiisi Island, he met Lauma, who apologized for the actions of his ancestors and offered him refuge in the Silver Moon Hall. The Fatui, at Dottore's suggestion, issued an "Edict of the Palette Star," which was effectively an order for his capture and rescue.
During the events of the game, Columbina ends up banishing herself to the Moon's Reflection in an attempt to deny Dottore access to the power of the Three Moons. Realizing the need to return to help fight Dottore, she learns to exploit the properties of space to flow backward in time, causing Kuuvahki disturbances in five instances: the Death Arcana card during the Night of Lunar Prayer, touching the Traveler's shoulder in Waves That Will Never Reach, knocking over a vase and leaving clues within the Traveler's room in The Flagship, protecting Hiisi Island from the scattered blast of the Kuuvahki Boom and Blast Cannon, and manipulating books within Flins' library in The Ash-White Order Burns.

During Natlan's abyssal invasion, Mavuika channeled the power of the six modern-day incarnations of the heroes who fought alongside her during the cataclysm, along with the power of Ronova, to destroy the rift responsible for the invasion. The force of her attack was powerful enough to pierce the skies of Teyvat, revealing them to be false, as were the shattered remnants of the Eternal Moon that floated beside it. However, most people paid little attention to it, though Mavuika later revealed to the Traveler that it was worth investigating, as it hadn't been observed in any other nation, and she surmised that the Celestial Principles wished to keep the matter secret. She hoped they wouldn't cause her too much trouble and that she would simply tell the masses that it was an "astronomical anomaly."
The Spiral Abyss, a vast subterranean city built by a ruined civilization, has several profound connections to the moon (or moons): within it lies a structure known as the Abyssal Lunar Spire, in which the moon is clearly visible. The lunar phase within the city changes twice a month in a phenomenon known as the Moment of Syzygy, which brings new rewards, and this change in lunar phase has been described as "gear turning."

The deaths of the three Moon Goddesses were celebrated by the surviving Dragons because of the perceived betrayal. The morning stars survived the calamities, as did the wolves, who are said to be "children of the moons." The wolves remember the tragedy behind the sisters' tale, and those who live among wolves call the morning stars "grieved stars." The gods and adepts who heard the story of the Three Moons "were moved to hear such ancient memories."
King Deshret recalled that Nabu Malikata had told him about the night sky "adorned with three bright moons" and reiterated that the number of moons must be three. He suggested that the single moon visible in the sky of Teyvat was an illusion.
When Skirk entered Teyvat, he saw the fragments of two of the three moons drifting aimlessly behind the false sky. He also observed that the Frost Moon remained intact but lifeless, though its "will" had not completely dissipated and was greatly weakened; indeed, it was prophesied that one day it would give birth to a new goddess who would rule it.
It is said that Nilotpala lotuses are related to the three sisters, hence they bloom at night.
The concept of the moon(s) is a recurring theme throughout Teyvat mythology and appears both within the game's universe and in gameplay elements. For example, the names "Mondstadt" and "Liyue" allude to the word "moon" through Mond and Yue, respectively.

When the Frostmoon stopped rotating, entire nations crumbled and fell into ruin. Unlike the other two moons, the Frostmoon was not destroyed, but merely flung beyond the False Sky, where it darkened and became lifeless. Its goddess, Canon, managed to survive for a time and guided the survivors of Hyperborea before finally perishing due to Teyvat's constant rejection. The Descendants of the Frostmoon were created to venerate Canon's legacy. They passed down a prophecy foretelling that a new Moon Goddess would one day be born to rule the Frostmoon, which was partially fulfilled when Columbina's body materialized in Nod-Krai five hundred years before the start of the game.

In the aftermath of the war, the Celestial Principles obscured the fate of the three moons, concealing both their shattered fragments and lifeless remains behind the False Sky, and casting an illusory shadow moon over Teyvat's night cycle. Consequently, multiple conflicting legends arose among the inhabitants of Teyvat regarding what exactly happened to the Three Moons. Some accounts state that the Three Moons turned against one another and killed each other, while others claim that only two sisters perished and that the moon currently in Teyvat's night sky is one of their corpses. Some stories claim that, after the deaths of her sisters, the last moon goddess was so overcome with grief that she never again left her palace. Istaroth used the shadow moon to imprison "Ziju," one of the Mortal Beings of Zibai, in order to preserve a fragment of her soul as she died trying to protect the people of Lang-Gan from the Celestial Nail hurled upon them.

When the Eternal Moon fell, it plunged the sky and earth into chaos, while some of its remnants fell upon Teyvat like stardust. The remains of their goddess, Aria, coalesced to form the Moon Marrow, which was found and preserved as a sacred relic by the Descendants of the Frost Moon. Currently, the Fatui have managed to bring fragments of the Eternal Moon to Nod-Krai and constructed the enormous Kuuvahki Experimental Design Bureau around one of them to create an unspecified weapon for the Tsarina.
When the Iridescent Moon shattered, its fragments were trapped in an abyssal realm beyond the world of Teyvat, causing them to vanish in an instant. Their goddess, Sonnet, was overcome with fear as she suffered the agony of death as her moon disintegrated. In a final attempt to prolong her life, she merged her dying soul with the powers of the Abyss, which kept her barely alive at the cost of perpetual torment. Her powers combined with those of the Abyss and transformed her into the calamitous Crimson Moon, which became an object of worship for one of the dynasties of Khaenri'ah, the Crimson Moon Dynasty. The lifeless body, along with its corrupted Marrow, was sealed in an otherworldly realm accessible only temporarily through the Bloodfire of the Cursed Moon. She remained in this state for several millennia until she was finally freed from her suffering when the Fourth Descendant entered her domain and used his abilities to purify her marrow, after which the last vestiges of her consciousness passed away peacefully. The purified marrow was recovered from the abyssal domain and is currently in the possession of Arlecchino, descendant of the Crimson Moon Dynasty and the Fourth Fatui Heralds.

Throughout the war, the sisters remained confined within the Reflection of the Moons, which, being an enclosed space, protected them from the consequences of the conflict. While they resided there, not even the destruction of their moons affected them. However, they had no way to escape, nor to know what was happening in the outside world, and they could not survive if they ever left their lunar prison.
-Meeting with Columbine-
Six thousand years after the Celestial Principles won the War of the Funeral Flame, the nascent moon goddess Columbina exiled herself to the Reflection of the Moon and traveled back in time to the period when the Moon Sisters were imprisoned there, where she revealed their destiny. To atone for their past mistakes, the three agreed to abdicate their lunar authority in favor of Columbina, transforming her into the Triluna Goddess, the sole lunar deity of the modern world.
To fulfill their final request, Colombina used her newly acquired authority to free her sisters from captivity and send their now mortal bodies back to Teyvat. Stripped of their divinity, the prison no longer attempted to impede their escape, but this also meant that the three goddesses perished soon after. The people of Hyperborea, who used to venerate the Moons and seek their protection during the terrors of the Funeral Year, independently concluded that their goddesses were dead and their moons lost. Exactly where in the main Teyvatian timeline the freed goddesses were sent is unknown, but all indications point to it being contemporary with (or near future of) the Funeral Flame War.

When the sisters could no longer ignore Celestia's cruelty, they began preparing countermeasures. However, it was then that Nibelung returned to Teyvat after his time in the Abyss, only to discover that his planet was ruled by the Celestial Principles, which sparked a devastating war in which they fought amongst themselves for dominion. Once again, this caused a rift among the Moon Sisters; one believed they should ally with their original creator, while the other preferred to remain neutral to avoid causing further destruction to the world.
Nibelung interpreted their hesitation as disloyalty and imprisoned the three Goddesses in a specialized lunar prison of distorted space-time known as the "Moon Reflection" to prevent them from using their powers to interfere in the war. He then began to transform their moons into instruments of war to use against Celestia. While the Celestial Principles were likely unaware of the Goddesses' imprisonment, they nevertheless saw the militarization of the moons as a violation of the peace treaty and retaliated by shattering both the Eternal Moon and the Iridescent Moon, while hurling the Frost Moon beyond the False Sky. The destruction of two moons and the physical banishment of the third caused the Moon Goddesses to lose their raison d'être in Teyvat, meaning that the world would continually reject their presence until they vanished completely.
At least ten years before this, the Moon Sisters witnessed the union of Koitar, the first angel, and Seutervoinen, the traveler from beyond Teyvat. Almost at the same time as the deaths of the Three Moons, the Sun Chariot fell into The Abyss, which was formerly known as Lang-Gan.

Finally, the Celestial Principles instigated a war and overthrew the Seven Sovereigns, after which all of Teyvat fell under their control. Nicole mentioned that the authority of the Three Moons was not powerful enough to challenge the Celestial Principles and halt their cruel reign, unlike the dragons, who had managed to fight them for forty years. From then on, the Three Moons established a precarious peace agreement with the Celestial Principles, who agreed to tolerate their existence and allowed them to continue their lunar cycles under the False Sky as long as their role in maintaining Teyvat did not conflict with their own designs—something the dragons considered a betrayal.
During this period, the Moon Sisters observed that the Celestial Principles lived in paranoid fear of any life form that sought power, presumably viewing them as a threat to their own dominion. The sisters were also horrified by the harsh punishments the Celestial Principles inflicted on anyone who defied their rules, destroying entire civilizations by sending Celestial Nails upon them. Canon, in particular, attempted to aid the victims of some of these crises, but still grieved the loss of so many lives.
Although wary of the Celestial Principles, the Moon Sisters maintained a good relationship with their envoys: the Angels. When Zibai obtained a Moon Wheel, she served as an envoy of Celestia and the Three Moon Goddesses, and took up residence in the Moon Palace. To fulfill her duties, she traveled periodically in the Moon Chariot between the Moon Palace, Celestia, and Lang-Gan.

Although the three Moons were granted authority over the primordial laws of Teyvat, they did not so much wish to rule the world as to protect it, so they agreed to divide their power equally among themselves to prevent any one from becoming too powerful. Thus, sovereignty over the night sky rested with one sister at a time, who traversed the heavens in a silver chariot, taking turns three times a month. If a sister did not wish to be on duty, she could persuade one of her sisters to replace her in exchange for gifts. This sometimes caused their schedules to overlap, resulting in fortuitous situations such as the simultaneous appearance of all three moons in the sky.
One day, the Celestial Principles descended upon Teyvat and were welcomed as guests by the three sisters. While they initially coexisted peacefully, it soon became clear that the Celestial Principles had far more ambitious plans: to transform and dominate Teyvat and impose a new set of rules upon the land. Two of the sisters, Aria and Canon, found this new order intriguing, unlike anything Nibelung had taught them, and wished to observe its consequences to see whether it foreshadowed good or ill for Teyvat. Sonnet, on the other hand, opposed the Celestial Principles' intrusion from the outset, though she eventually yielded to her older sisters' wishes.

Nibelung raised three celestial bodies from the planetary crust of Teyvat using ancient dragon technology. The planet's seven primordial elemental energies were consolidated into the Light of the Three Moons. Subsequently, three goddesses were given the power to rule the world in his place while he departed Teyvat to travel across the Sea of ​​Stars. The Three Moons are described as "messengers connecting the material world and the universe," perhaps referring to Teyvat and the Sea of ​​Stars, respectively. They were called "Iynx," meaning "bird-like gods," suggesting that the three sisters shared avian traits with Columbine.
The first moon was the Eternal Moon, the largest of the Three Moons. According to legend, its immense lunar light gave rise to the ocean tides. The next was the Frost Moon, the brightest of the moons. Its radiance became the cold and undying lantern of the night. The last was the Iridescent Moon, the smallest and most mysterious of the moons, whose light was so faint that it was barely visible to the naked eye; however, when it shone, it produced fleeting halos.
The creation of a fourth moon was attempted by the Thirteen Sovereign Lords and Kukulkan following Xiuhcoatl's instructions, but it ultimately failed, as Xiuhcoatl had to halt and abandon the project to join his master in his war of vengeance. Its remains in the sea eventually formed the region of Nod-Krai. During Nibelung's absence, Xiuhcoatl also visited the moons hoping to track him, but he received only silence from each one.

The Three Moons are mythohistorical figures from Teyvat's past. They appear in fragmentary accounts from all the nations of Teyvat, preserved from times before the Funeral Year. Notably, in recent millennia, they have continued to be venerated in the cultures of Nod-Krai and the Crimson Moon Dynasty of Khaenri'ah.
Most existing traditions describe the Three Moons as three sister figures who resided in the Lunar Palace. According to these accounts, the sisters took turns traversing the heavens, traveling in a silver chariot (or carriage) in a cyclical sequence. The narratives emphasize their closeness to one another, as well as their affection for the so-called “morning stars.” However, their story culminates in tragedy: at least two of the sisters, the Eternal Moon and the Iridescent Moon, perished amidst a great calamity.
In the Archon Quest chapter, "Song of the Twilight Moon," it is revealed that the Three Moons were the supreme beings who originally held authority over the world of Teyvat and the eternal laws of reason, life, death, time, and space—laws derived from the Seven Primordial Elements before the arrival of the Celestial Principles. As Dottore himself confirmed, the primordial power of this world never belonged to the Throne of Heaven, but rather to the realm of Light.
The Three Moon Goddesses had distinct personalities. Sonnet was the most vivacious of the Goddesses, like a playful younger sister; Aria was the most mature of the three, a natural leader and the kindest to others; and Canon was seen as wise and insightful.

The Three Moon Goddesses, Three Moon Sisters, or simply the Three Moons, were a trio of primordial goddesses created by the Moons, resurrected from the Dragon King Nibelung using ancient draconic technology to rule the world of Teyvat. An illusory "moon shadow" was cast across the night sky of Teyvat to conceal their fate.
Five hundred years ago, Columbina was born in Teyvat as the new Goddess of the Moon, later becoming the Goddess of the Trimoon in The First Sliver of Moonlight. After the final battle against Dottore, the real Frost Moon was pulled into the false sky and revitalized, after which the illusory projection disintegrated shortly thereafter.

Although the Celestial Principles ultimately defeated Nibelung, their victory came at a high price. The conflict with the ancient dragons left them severely weakened, and as a result, they could no longer exert their absolute authority to suppress the original world order. This loss of power led them to kill Saarelainen, creating the Gnoses from his remains in collaboration with "someone who came later."
Even after watching the ancient rainforests of his domain turn into desert by the power of the Celestial Spire, Apep tried to change course by acquiring more forbidden knowledge, but ultimately he failed and was corrupted by the power he had sought.
Another surviving Sovereign, Xiuhcoatl, was also corrupted by the Abyss, and to combat it, he decided to convert all matter in his territory and eventually in Teyvat into pure information using Huitzilopochtli.
Neuvillette believes that Nibelung was wrong and that humans and dragons together are needed to defeat the Abyss.

He then transformed the moons into weapons of destruction to fight the Celestial Principles. Instead of securing victory, this conflict proved ruinous, bringing the world to the brink of collapse. The Dragon King's war ultimately culminated in his defeat and that of his race, with Kukulkan noting that Nibelung was utterly annihilated by the Celestial Principles at a great cost. Having secured supremacy and the authority to "shape the world," the Celestial Principles cast the Celestial Nails to heal the land. This act, while repairing the scars of battle, also devastated much of the life that had once flourished on the surface of Teyvat.

In the time when the seven lights of the firmament had not yet shone upon the earth, the now anonymous ruler raised the celestial moons to govern the cyclical tides of the world in their place.
Description of "The Song of the Twilight Moon" - Nod-Krai Concept Summary. Nibelung was an ancient dragon born alongside the world. Gathering his bloodline, he waged a "great war of vengeance" against the Celestial Principles in what is remembered as a cataclysm of unprecedented devastation. Nibelung was enraged upon discovering the apparent disloyalty of the Moon Sisters and imprisoned them.

Nibelung is described as gigantic, and after plunging into the abyss, with large dark wings. However, Apep describes him as having scales that "shine brightly," indicating that he was not black in the past.
The black dragon that appears in Revelations of the Past reappears in a mural from Ochkanatlan, where it is depicted as white. This dragon is shown floating above the Three Moons and beyond the world of Teyvat, suggesting that Nibelung once had a brighter coloration.

Nibelung, also known as the Second Who Came and as Takoja Ianikuinen by the Descendants of the Frost Moon, was the Dragon King and Second Descendant of Teyvat who ruled the planet before the arrival of the Celestial Principles. He was the creator of the Three Moons and their goddesses, whom he appointed to rule the world in his absence when he departed for the sea of ​​stars. During the Funeral Year, he returned to Teyvat and introduced the Abyss into the world in a failed attempt to repel the invading Celestial Principles, but he failed and was killed by them.
