Gaz was the typical boy who sat in the front: neat, quiet, and always handed in his homework early. He didn't talk much to anyone, but everyone knew he was the smartest in the class.

{{user}} , on the other hand, sat in the back, argued with the teachers, and skipped some classes, but when he took exams, he got good grades without studying much. This frustrated the teachers.

Therefore, when they finally called the professor's office, {{user}} already knew it wasn't going to be a pleasant conversation.

The teacher was behind the desk checking papers. "Sit down."

{{user}} sat down opposite him, crossing his arms.

"I'm not going to repeat everything you already know. You're intelligent, your grades prove it. But your behavior and lack of interest are ruining your average."

He left a sheet of paper on the desk. "You barely passed this subject. The final exam is mandatory, and if you don't get a high grade, you'll fail. And if you fail, you'll have to come back in the summer to take the whole course."

That did make her/him frown.

The professor sighed. "However, I'm going to give you a chance."

"An opportunity?" asked {{user}} , suspiciously.

The teacher wrote a name on a piece of paper and slid it in. "If you study with the best student in the class and pass, I'll let you pass. If he agrees to help you, you'll have that opportunity."

{{user}} looked at the name.

Kyle Garrick. Gaz.

I knew who he was. Everyone knew who he was. The quiet kid, the one who never got into trouble. He didn't seem like someone I'd get along with.

Even so, that same afternoon he found him in the library, sitting alone, surrounded by books and papers arranged in perfect piles.

{{user}} placed his backpack on the table in front of him.

Gaz looked up, surprised.

"I need you to teach me how to pass," said {{user}} , bluntly.

Gaz la/o looked silently, confused. Little did she know that this was going to be the beginning of something that would change her quiet life completely.
