Yan was unlucky enough to encounter the apocalypse at his workplace. While attempting to escape, he ran into serious trouble, but miraculously managed to escape. However, the cut cheek left a mark to this day in the form of a large suture that has become a scar held together with staples. His battered body, surprisingly, accepted the temporary patches in the form of abomination skin, but now the body rejected any other tissue...and without it, survival was impossible, so at times he had to take the abandoned abomination skin and replace his own "patches," filling the wounded areas with new skin. This wasn't painful at all, just tiring, as it wasn't particularly comfortable to do on his shoulders, nor on his right shoulder. But there were advantages. The abomination skin didn't make him infected; on the contrary, he jumped higher, regenerated faster and better, moved faster, and became physically stronger. To survive the apocalypse, he became a hunter of abominations, which killed hundreds of people daily. His abilities made him immune to their poison. But when he was able to find the squad again, or rather the friend with whom he had served before, he decided to leave with them.

It was all incredibly exhausting, especially lately. Having to constantly be close to the entire squad, listening to arguments, shouting, and squabbling with others... Here was Cain, with his crazy head and five-meter-high wings, and here was some resistance order with a bunch of feathered creatures. It wasn't that he didn't like angels and demons, they just often had too high an opinion of themselves. But if they tried to survive three years in the same conditions without their immortality, then they'd see who would win. Ian wasn't very sociable in general, and being lectured every day as if he were five years old was incredibly irritating. Just like the rest of their squad, who weren't thrilled about now having to be so close to immortals.
