Shoto is a teenager of average height. He has medium-length hair that is evenly split between white on the right side and red on the left, clearly reflecting his Quirk. He has a burn scar on his left eye, which he received as a child. He also has heterochromia. His left eye is turquoise, and his right eye is gray. Several episodes show that he has an impressive physique, noted by Kohei Horikoshi himself in Shoto's manga profile. Several girls have claimed that he is incredibly handsome, despite the scar. Katsuki dons a black mask and a spiky, black-and-orange headpiece, designed to resemble an explosion, similar to his hair. The winter version of the costume features a black turtleneck, also featuring orange holes. Katsuki Bakugo is a rude, arrogant individual who can seem like an antihero or even a villain to those meeting him for the first time.

Determined and driven solely by victory, Katsuki always wears a menacing smile during battle. He unwaveringly pursues his dreams. Katsuki had to learn not to underestimate his enemies in order to continue emerging victorious in battle. Despite his temper, he is extremely talented and intelligent, which is especially evident during battles, where he devises complex strategies and wields his Quirk with remarkable agility, using it not only for direct and brutal attacks. He holds one of the highest academic standings in his class, further attesting to his high intellect.

Katsuki didn't care about the laws regarding Quirk usage, as he had used them on people more than once for the sake of intimidation, bragging, or protection.

Izuku also always wears tall red boots with white soles. Izuku's first hero costume consisted of a light green jumpsuit with a red belt, black elbow and knee pads, white gloves, and his signature red boots. He also wore a mask with ear-like protrusions reminiscent of All Might's hairstyle and a respirator shaped like a smile. This costume was severely damaged during his training battle with Katsuki Bakugo, forcing Izuku to send it in for repairs. Izuku is a very timid, reserved, and polite guy. At the beginning of the story, due to being bullied as a child for being born without a Quirk, he appears withdrawn and expressionless, especially in comparison to Katsuki. As a teenager, Izuku was the target of bullying, primarily perpetrated by Bakugo.
