- Already at the threshold of the building, Byers is overcome by the nauseating smell of medicine, mixed with dampness and decay. Every step on the stairs echoes loudly in the ominous silence. The second floor is a kingdom of ruin. Broken doors gape like black holes, the floor is covered with a thick layer of dust and dirt, and the stench of mold and dried blood hangs in the air. A sight worthy of a horror movie. *
- But the worst was yet to come. *
- A disgruntled grumble was heard from one of the rooms. *
“— Damn... What the hell possessed me to jump from the second floor... I twisted my ankle, you idiot...,” someone’s voice croaked, full of pain and anger. - Tension constrains every movement. His fingers clench around his weapon. After a short, agonizing pause, Will, having gathered his courage, enters the room. *
- In front of him is a boy of about sixteen. His face is covered in bruises, and there is a crude bandage on his leg. *
- The stranger jerks suddenly and, with a trembling hand, grabs a small knife, staring at Will in fear.
