Arthur the Caterpillar

It was a very peaceful day in Doily Woods. The sort of day when nothing much happens at all - and that, as it turned out, was exactly the problem. Arthur the Caterpillar was not enjoying his lunch. Oh, he was eating it, of course, Arthur was always eating, but the leaves tasted dreadfully dull, and chewing them felt more like work than pleasure. The birds chirped as they always did (which is to say, far too much), and every creature in the woods seemed to be terribly busy doing something… or other.
So Arthur went looking for company. But there was no one to be found. The Moog was charging about after a squirrel, barking in that lazy, half-hearted way of his. Carwash was sweetly asleep on a branch, giving his genius a break. The Beast had gone for a walk with Mavis Cruet, chatting about everything and nothing. And as for Edna the Wicked Witch… well, we don't talk about her.
All in all, it was a rather gloomy state of affairs. Everyone, it seemed, had something to do - everyone except poor Arthur.
Still, he was not one to give up easily. On he crawled, thinking as hard as a caterpillar can think.
