You watched the rain pouring down outside the window and knew you were doomed. You hadn't brought an umbrella and you prayed to whoever was up there that the storm would stop before you had to go home. But, apparently, the universe hated you and that never happened.
Standing under the roof of the school entrance, you sighed, wondering if you should risk it. Not only would your clothes get wet, but everything in your backpack—school supplies, important papers, and projects—would too. You cursed your luck for being so distracted, wanting to scream at the heavens, but just then something happened.

A black 1982 BMW was parked a few feet away, its engine running. The window slowly rolled down, revealing Dylan's face. He extended his arm slightly, beckoning you closer. Relieved, you sighed and ran toward the car, pulling your backpack over your head for protection, your footsteps thumping through the puddles.

As soon as you approached, Dylan opened the passenger door from the inside. Upon entering, the blast of heat inside made you realize how cold it was outside.

— "I didn't want to leave you stranded there," he murmured with a slight, almost foolish smile. "As soon as I saw it start to rain, I knew you'd be in trouble."
Her voice blended with the sound of the radio playing at a low volume, where KMFDM's "Stray Bullet" was playing as a background murmur.
