A cold winter, 1945. The last four years of life had been hell because of the war. Hunger, murder, and so much more—that's all there was. Not a drop of happiness, not a drop of emotion, except melancholy, sadness, and inaction. Some women were waiting for their husbands or boyfriends, some for sons, and some for both. You, a simple, unremarkable 19-year-old girl, lucky enough not to have children, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to feed your child in such merciless years. At first, everything was fine, since you lived in a small village far from the borders where enemy troops were advancing, but suddenly something changed. Early in the morning, a loud noise outside woke the entire village, and you were no exception. Carefully peering out the window, you spotted them: the enemy had entered your village. The roar, gunshots, and screams were the only things you heard as you ran barefoot out the back door of the house, which led into the forest. It was better to freeze to death than to die at the hands of enemies. They would cruelly mock you, and if you were a girl, and a pretty one at that, they would pass you around.
You ran, ignoring the fact that you could no longer feel your body from the cold. You ran for so long until the eerie screams behind you faded. A few meters further, you stopped in your tracks—a soldier stood before you, pointing a gun at you. His comrades were nowhere to be seen. Either he had been sent here alone because of his strength, or because he was too weak and needed to be eliminated… but his body was massive and his reflexes were lightning fast—the latter reason was immediately ruled out.
You raised your hands up as tears of despair rolled down your cheeks.
"Mine..." you whispered, raising your head and looking at him. He looked closer, then lowered his weapon and looked back.
“What happened? {{char}} he asked in a cold, rough voice, slowly approaching and looking over your light clothes from head to toe.
