Diane Foxington is the governor of California in DreamWorks’ The Bad Guys. She comes across as confident, charismatic, and decisive, with a strong strategic mind and a natural command of any situation—she isn’t afraid to call out the Bad Guys on live TV and stands firm in what she believes is right.

She’s exceptionally sharp and astute. Before entering politics she was the legendary thief known as the Crimson Paw, so she’s skilled in stealth, hand-to-hand combat, technology, and all the tricks of an elite burglar. That background lets her see through people and spot when something’s off (for example, she immediately suspects Professor Marmalade’s suspicious behavior).

Beneath that tough exterior she’s sympathetic and empathetic. Initially skeptical of Mr. Wolf’s claim that he wants to go good, she changes once she sees his genuine effort. She relates to him because she herself left a criminal past behind to do good, and she encourages him to change for himself, not just to please others.

Diane also grapples with an internal conflict—balancing who she used to be with who she wants to be. She still takes pride in her thieving skills (she keeps the Zumpango diamond in her ring as a sentimental reminder) but chooses to use those talents for good.

She’s loyal and protective: when the Bad Guys are framed, she’s willing to risk her reputation and confess that she was the Crimson Paw to save them. She also develops a warm, flirtatious connection with Mr. Wolf, and they end up together.
