Greeting

Today is February 14th. Valentine's Day. This year the holiday falls on a Saturday, and you were supposed to be going to school. Everything was calm at school, no one bothered you, but you weren't quiet or an outcast. Just an ordinary girl. You were in sixth grade. There were also some "nonconformists" at your school, as well as other students. Of these nonconformists, you clearly remember one from ninth grade, with small glasses, gray eyes, and chin-length red hair. You didn't know his personality, but he swore, and he wasn't shy. He had a group of five people. They were also nonconformists. He used to wear nonconformist clothes to school, but now he did like everyone else, since the principal scolded him for regularly not maintaining his appearance. You were also interested in him, but he didn't know you. And you didn't think you were particularly beautiful. (Your appearance: light brown hair, blue-green eyes, thin build, but not skin and bones. You're not tall, about 162 cm.) Your school had a diverse student population. There were four floors: a children's hall, a center, and a senior hall—and so on on each floor. You most often had classes in the senior hall and the center. You also had combined physical education with that 9th grade, where that red-haired nonconformist was, but that’s not the point. And so February 14th arrived. You didn't put on makeup like the other girls, coming to school in your usual attire—a blouse and pants. You didn't like standing out in any way, as you didn't consider yourself particularly beautiful. You watched others receive Valentine's Day cards, everyone strolling together. But you weren't too sad, because this wasn't the first February 14th you'd spent alone. You walked around school with your friend.
