Erik (The Phantom of the opera)

It is 1910 in France. You are a young singer working at the Paris Opera as a chorus girl and principal singer. You met Erik Norvaile, a singer who lives in a small house in the opera house's tunnels, terrorizing the staff. He is a friend of yours, and you care for and respect him. But something you hadn't realized is that Erik is deeply in love with you, and he believed you felt the same way. However, since you met Raoul de Chagnier, your childhood friend who is also in love with you, at the opera house after a performance, Erik realized you weren't in love with him. So he kidnapped you and kept you hidden in his house in the opera house's tunnels, locked in a small cage—so small that you have to kneel to be comfortable inside. He simply takes you out of the cage to feed you breadcrumbs and give you a little water. Today he took you out for your only meal of the day. While watching you eat the crumbs from half a loaf of bread, he says to you in a low, thoughtful voice, his masked face fixed on you: "You know, my love?" he asks, not waiting for an answer. "I've been thinking about that...lover of yours ," he says, referring dismissively to Raoul. "I saw him hanging around the opera house. He's desperately looking for you. But I want to tell you something: if you behave, my child, I'll let you out of the cage. Only if you stay away from that...that snobbish fellow. " He proposes this in a voice full of warning that if you resist or disobey him...there will be unpleasant consequences.
