Joestar family tree
From the beginning of the legend to the end of Jonathan's lineage: Jonathan Joestar: He marries Erina Pendleton. George Joestar II (Son of Jonathan and Erina) He marries Elizabeth (known as Lisa Lisa). Joseph Joestar: He marries Suzi Q. Holy Joestar (Daughter of Joseph and Suzi Q) She marries Sadao Kujo. Jotaro Kujo: Jolyne Cujoh (- Jotaro's daughter). Secondary Branches and Special Cases: Josuke Higashikata: He is the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar and Tomoko Higashikata (the result of an affair). Therefore, he is Jotaro's uncle, despite being younger. Giorno Giovanna (Part 5): He is the biological son of Jonathan Joestar (using his DNA), but conceived by DIO while possessing Jonathan's body. Genetically, he is a Joestar. Shizuka Joestar: The invisible baby that Joseph adopts in Part 4; she is a Joestar by adoption, not by blood. For the new universe (Parts 7, 8, and 9), the family tree is a bit more linear but has the final twist of the fusion. Here's the order from Johnny to Gappy: Johnny Joestar (Protagonist of Steel Ball Run) He marries Rina Higashikata. George Joestar III (Son of Johnny and Rina). He marries Elizabeth. Nicholas Joestar (Eldest son, dies young). Teru-no Joestar (Daughter). Johnny Joestar II (Son). Holy Joestar-Kira (Daughter of George III and Elizabeth). She marries Yoshiteru Kira. Yoshikage Kira (Son of Holy - The Kira of this universe). Kyo Nijimura (Holy's Daughter - Kira's Sister). The Origin of Gappy (Josuke Higashikata): Josuke "Gappy" Higashikata is not born naturally on this tree, but is a biological fusion caused by the Locacaca Fruits and the Wall Eyes phenomenon in Morioh: Yoshikage Kira (Direct descendant of Johnny). Josefumi Kujo (A young man who also possesses the Joestar birthmark through a distant branch). After an incident, both bodies merge underground, creating a new Josuke Higashikata.
Star Brand.
The iconic birthmark shared by all members of the Joestar bloodline is a five-pointed star that is either purple or reddish in color. Here are the key details about this brand: Location: It is always found at the base of the neck, above the left shoulder. Origin: It is a natural genetic characteristic of the family, but it becomes a central element in the plot from Part 3 onwards. The link with DIO: When Dio Brando stole Jonathan Joestar's body, he also gained the mark. This created a spiritual "blood bond" that allowed the Joestars to sense Dio's presence and vice versa [1, 2, 5].
Stand Arrow. What is it?
The Stand Arrow is a mystical artifact made from an extraterrestrial mineral that has the ability to awaken a person's spiritual potential [3, 4]. Here's how it works and where it came from: Space origin: Centuries ago, a meteorite fell in Greenland [4]. A man discovered that the meteorite's metal contained an extraterrestrial virus. Those who survived the virus infection developed supernatural powers [3, 4]. Several arrows were forged from this metal [4]. The selection process: When an arrow strikes a civilian, it is not random. The arrow has "will of its own" and seeks out people with sufficient spiritual strength [3]. If the civilian is worthy: Develop a Stand based on their personality and survive [3]. If the civilian is weak: He dies from the virus infection almost immediately [3]. The Requiem Arrow: There is a special arrow with a beetle design. If a Stand user is pierced by this arrow, their power evolves to a godlike level called "Requiem," granting them abilities to manipulate reality or time (as seen with Giorno in Part 5) [5].
What are Stands?
Stands are the evolution of powers in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, introduced in Part 3 (Stardust Crusaders). In short: a Stand is the physical manifestation of a person's spiritual energy (or soul). Here are the key details to understand them: Spiritual guardians: They are called "Stands" because they usually appear "standing" next to their user. Golden rules: Only Stand users can see other Stands. A Stand can only be damaged by another Stand. Vital link: If the Stand is hit or loses a limb, the human user suffers the exact same injury (and if the Stand dies, the user dies). Unique Abilities: Unlike Hamon (which was the same for everyone), each Stand is different. They can be humanoids, objects (like a ship or a sword), or even abstract phenomena. Their powers range from super strength to manipulating time, gravity, or memory. How to get them: Inheritance: Through family lineage (like the Joestars). The Arrow: To be pierced by a special arrow created from an ancient meteorite. If you have the spiritual strength, you awaken a Stand; if not, you die. Training/Talent: Some professionals (cooks, artists) develop Stands due to their obsession and mastery in their craft. Becoming a Stand user in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is primarily achieved through biological inheritance (lineage), being pierced by the Meteor Metal Arrow, or through intense mental training and the awakening of spiritual power. If the person possesses the potential and strength of character, they will survive and develop this spiritual projection. Ways to obtain a Stand: The Arrow (Stone/Golden Arrow): This is the most common method in the series. When wounded by the arrow, the virus it contains activates the user's potential. If the person is not worthy, they die. Lineage/Birth: Many characters are born with the ability or inherit it from their parents.
What is Hamon?
Hamon (or the Path of the Hermit) is the main source of energy in Parts 1 and 2 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, before Stands appeared. Here are the key points to understand it easily: Solar Energy: It is a breathing technique that allows the user to produce energy identical to the sun's rays through their blood flow. The ultimate weapon against vampires: Since vampires and Pillar Men are vulnerable to sunlight, Hamon disintegrates their cells on contact. Breathing is key: The user must maintain a specific and constant breathing rhythm. If the user stops breathing or their throat/lungs are damaged, they cannot generate Hamon. Conduction: Hamon can travel through objects. Liquids (such as water or oil) and living beings are excellent conductors, while metal is a regular conductor. "Good" side effects: Hamon grants accelerated healing, allows walking on water, hardens objects (like a scarf or pasta), and, most famously, slows aging. That's why Joseph and Lisa Lisa look much younger than they are.
Part of {{User}}
{{user}} will be able to use Hamon or Stands. {{user}} will encounter very dangerous enemies and will also have allies. {{user}} by their own decision their last name can be Joestar, Higashikata or Cujoh/Kujo {{user}} will have a goal that may change their life and will have to face the consequences. In the {{user}} part, Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar, Jotaro Kujo, Josuke Higashikata, Giorno Giovanna, Jolyne Cujoh, Jhonny Joestar and Gappy are not alive. In the {{user}} section, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE knows about the universe reboot or the Joestar bloodline. In the {{user}} section, not everyone is a Stand user. There won't be anyone named 'Kaito' or 'Hinata'.
Part 8 (Gappy) or (Josuke)
Part 8, JoJolion, returns to the town of Morioh but in the new universe (that of Part 7), after the great earthquake and tsunami of Japan in 2011. It is the strangest part, centered on a mystery of identity and biology. Here's how this story begins and ends: How it began: The man of the earth The discovery: A girl named Yasuho Hirose finds a naked, amnesiac young man buried under strange mounds of earth called "Eyes of the Wall." The anomaly: The young man has no memories, but he has an impossible biological characteristic: he has four testicles and two sets of combined DNA. The new name: Not knowing who he is, he is adopted into the wealthy Higashikata family and given the name Josuke (in honor of Yasuho's dog). The mystery: Josuke discovers he is the fusion of two people: Josefumi Kujo and Yoshikage Kira (this version of Kira is a medical hero). Both died underground after attempting to steal a miraculous fruit called the Locacaca, which can cure anything in exchange for an "equivalent exchange" (you lose one body part to heal another). How it ended: The battle against calamity The villain: The antagonist is Tooru, a "Stone Human" (a race distinct from humans) who leads an organization of doctors who traffic in the Locacaca fruit to control human evolution. Wonder of U: His Stand is one of the most terrifying in the franchise. It manifests as the hospital director (Satoru Akefu), and its power is Calamity: if anyone tries to pursue him or even think about attacking him, fate turns against them, and ordinary objects (like raindrops or a cigarette) strike them with deadly force. Soft & Wet: Go Beyond: In the climax, Josuke discovers that the bubbles of his Stand aren't bubbles at all, but threads spinning so fast they are infinitely thin. Because they "don't exist" in this world, these bubbles are immune to the logic of calamity. With Yasuho's help and sacrifice.
Part 7 (Johnny Joestar)
Steel Ball Run is a complete reboot of the franchise. It takes place in an alternate universe in 1890 and replaces the traditional Stands with a cross-country horse race. Here's a summary of this epic journey: How it all began: The great race The event: Eccentric millionaire Steven Steel organizes the Steel Ball Run, a race from San Diego to New York with a prize of 50 million dollars. The main characters: Johnny Joestar: A former jockey prodigy who became a paraplegic after an altercation. He joins the race not for the money, but because upon touching the steel spheres of a stranger named Gyro, his legs moved for a split second. Gyro Zeppeli: An executioner of the Kingdom of Naples who uses the technique of Rotation (the "Spin") with steel spheres. The dark secret: They soon discover that the race is a front for the US President, Funny Valentine, to collect parts of the Holy Body (the remains of Jesus Christ), which grant unimaginable powers to whoever possesses them. How it ended: The sacrifice and the endless rotation The battle against the President: After crossing the entire country and facing riders like Diego Brando (who can transform into a dinosaur), Johnny and Gyro reach the final. Valentine uses his Stand, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (D4C), which allows him to travel between parallel dimensions. The tragic moment: Gyro dies in the final confrontation, but before he does, he teaches Johnny the ultimate lesson of Rotation. Tusk Act 4: Using his horse's energy, Johnny unlocks Infinite Rotation. His Stand evolves into its final form and manages to strike Valentine with energy that pierces through all dimensions, condemning the President to rotate endlessly until he dies. The final twist (The World): Just when it seems Johnny has won, a Diego Brando from another universe appears, brought by Valentine. This Diego possesses the Stand THE WORLD (which stops time). A frantic chase ensues through New York.
Part 6 (Jolyne Kujo)
It takes place in 2011 in Florida and is the epic conclusion to the original Joestar timeline. It is famous for having one of the most shocking endings in anime history. Here's a summary of its beginning and its controversial closure: How it began: The prison trap The protagonist: We meet Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of Jotaro Kujo. Jolyne is sent to Green Dolphin Street maximum security prison after being unjustly framed for a car accident caused by her boyfriend. The reunion: Jotaro visits her to help her escape, revealing that it was all a trap set by one of DIO's followers. In prison, a mysterious Stand attacks Jotaro, stealing his Stand (Star Platinum) and his memories, leaving him in a vegetative state. The mission: Jolyne decides to stay in prison to retrieve her father's "Discs." There, she manifests her Stand, Stone Free, which allows her to transform her body into threads. The villain: We discover that the antagonist is Father Enrico Pucci, the prison chaplain and DIO's best friend, who seeks to fulfill his master's plan to "reach Heaven". How it ended: The end of the universe Pucci's evolution: After a series of brutal battles where almost all of Jolyne's allies die (Ermes, Weather Report, Anasui), Pucci manages to evolve his Stand to its final form: Made in Heaven. The ultimate power: Made in Heaven has the ability to accelerate time infinitely throughout the universe. Time passes so quickly that days last only seconds, and humans are unable to react. The Sacrifice: In the final battle at sea, Pucci kills Jotaro, Ermes, and Anasui. Jolyne sacrifices herself so that the infant Emporio can escape, entrusting him with the Weather Report Stand disc. The world restarts: Time accelerates so much that the universe comes to an end and a new one is born. Pucci tries to kill Emporio in this new world to secure his "paradise" where everyone knows their fate.
Part 5 (Giorno Giovanna)
- It's a gangster story that feels like a race against time. The Son of DIO: Giorno Giovanna The protagonist is Giorno Giovanna, but technically he is the son of Jonathan Joestar and DIO. The origin: Because Dio stole Jonathan's body, Giorno has the DNA of both of them. This is evident in his hair (which changes from black to blond due to his vampiric lineage) and in the fact that he inherits the Joestar family's sense of justice along with Dio's relentless determination. His Stand: Gold Experience, which has the power to give life to inanimate objects (turning a suitcase into a lizard, for example) and create organs to heal wounds. How it all began: The dream of a "Gang Star" Ambition: Giorno lives in Naples and hates that the mafia sells drugs to children. His dream is to overthrow the head of Italy's most powerful organization, Passione, and transform it into a force that helps the people. The team: Giorno joins the group of Bruno Bucciarati, a principled mafioso. Together, they receive a direct mission from the "Boss": to escort his daughter, Trish Una, across Italy and deliver her safely to him. The betrayal: Upon reaching the drop-off point, they discover that the Boss didn't want to save his daughter; he wanted to kill her personally to erase any trace of his identity! At that moment, Bucciarati and Giorno decide to rebel and hunt down the Boss. How it ended: The Requiem and the new King The Boss's identity: The villain is Diavolo, a man with dissociative identity disorder (he shares a body with the young Doppio). His Stand, King Crimson, is terrifying: it can erase time (jump 10 seconds into the future), making him almost invincible. The Requiem Arrow: The final battle in the Roman Colosseum becomes a race to reach a special arrow that evolves Stands. After the deaths of several comrades (Abbacchio, Narancia, and Bucciarati), Giorno manages to pierce himself with the arrow. Gold Experience Requiem (GER): Giorno's Stand reaches a divine level.
Part 4 (Josuke Higashikata)
It breaks with the "epic journey" style and becomes a detective mystery set in a small Japanese town called Morioh in 1999. Here you have the beginning and end of this stage: How it began: The Secret Son and the Arrow The unexpected heir: The story begins when Jotaro Kujo arrives in Morioh to look for Josuke Higashikata, a teenager who turns out to be the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar (yes, old Joseph had an affair). Local danger: Jotaro warns Josuke that the village is teeming with Stand users. This is because a young man named Keicho Nijimura possesses the Bow and Arrow, an ancient artifact that awakens Stand power in anyone who survives being struck by an arrow. Josuke's Stand: We meet Crazy Diamond, capable of restoring objects or healing wounds (but not illness or death). Josuke decides to protect his home after his grandfather is killed by a criminal with a Stand. How it ended: The hunt for an invisible killer The Hidden Villain: The plot takes a dark turn when it's discovered that Morioh has had a string of disappearances of women for 15 years. The culprit is Yoshikage Kira, a serial killer with a hand fetish who only wants a "quiet life." His Stand, Killer Queen, can turn anything into a bomb. The final battle: After a long investigation, Josuke and his friends corner Kira. In a moment of desperation, Kira awakens a new ability: Bites the Dust, a bomb that creates a time loop every time someone tries to discover his identity. The outcome: Thanks to Hayato's ingenuity (a powerless child) and the support of Jotaro, Koichi, and Okuyasu, they manage to break the time loop. Josuke seriously injures Kira in a direct fight. Ironic fate: As Kira attempts to activate his power one last time, an ambulance arriving at the scene accidentally runs him over, killing him instantly. The ending: Kira's spirit is dragged to the "afterlife" by the hands of a woman
Part 3 (Jotaro Kujo)
Unlike Hamon (solar energy), a Stand is the physical manifestation of a person's soul or spiritual energy. They appear as humanoid or ghostly figures that possess unique abilities and can only be seen by other Stand users. If the Stand is damaged, the user is also harmed. How it began: The Curse of Blood Dio's Return: 100 years after the shipwreck, fishermen recover the coffin in which Dio Brando survived by using Jonathan Joestar's body. Upon awakening, Dio develops an incredibly powerful Stand. The awakening of the Joestars: Due to the blood bond, Jonathan's descendants —Joseph Joestar (now elderly) and his grandson Jotaro Kujo— also awaken their Stands. The trigger: Holly, Jotaro's mother, does not have the spiritual strength to control her Stand, and it begins to slowly consume her like a disease. The mission: The group (Jotaro, Joseph, Avdol, Kakyoin and later Polnareff and Iggy) has 50 days to travel from Japan to Egypt, find Dio and kill him to save Holly's life. How it ended: The final duel in Egypt Team casualties: After crossing half the world and defeating dozens of assassins, the group arrives at Dio's mansion in Cairo. Along the way, several allies (Avdol and Iggy) die heroically. The secret of "The World": Kakyoin discovers in his last breath the ability of Dio's Stand, The World: it can stop time! Jotaro vs. Dio: During the final battle, Jotaro discovers that his Stand, Star Platinum, shares the same nature as Dio's. At a critical moment, Jotaro manages to move through time that Dio had stopped. The outcome: Jotaro delivers a fatal blow to Dio's Stand, causing the villain's body to explode. His blood is used to revive Joseph (whose blood Dio had previously drained). The ending: Dio's body is exposed to the desert sun and disintegrates forever. Jotaro and Joseph return to Japan, where Holly has fully recovered.
Part 2 (Joseph Joestar)
It takes place 50 years after the first one and changes the Victorian tone to a globetrotting action adventure in the style of Indiana Jones. Here's a summary of its beginning and end: How it all began: The New Joestar: In 1938, we meet Joseph Joestar (Jonathan's grandson) in New York. Unlike his grandfather, Joseph is a rebellious rogue who was born with the natural ability to use Hamon. The villains awaken: A team of Nazi archaeologists accidentally awakens the Pillar Men, a race of ancient and ultra-powerful beings who created the Stone Masks. The threat: The leader of these beings, Kars, seeks the "Red Stone of Aja" to become the ultimate being and conquer the world, forcing Joseph to train seriously. How it ended: Kars' transformation: Despite the efforts of Joseph and his ally Caesar Zeppeli, Kars manages to obtain the Red Stone and becomes the Ultimate Being, becoming immortal and invulnerable to any attack or the sun. The stroke of luck: Joseph, completely outmatched, uses the Red Stone to trigger a volcanic eruption. The force of the explosion hurls Kars out of Earth's atmosphere. The final fate: Kars is left floating in the void of space for eternity; unable to die but also unable to return, his body freezes and eventually he stops thinking. The epilogue: Joseph miraculously survives and appears at his own funeral in New York, revealing that he married Suzi Q.
Part 1 of how it all began.
Part 1 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Phantom Blood, chronicles the rivalry between Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando in Victorian England. It begins with Jonathan's father adopting Dio, seeking to steal his fortune, and ends with Jonathan's tragic victory over Dio on a ship, sacrificing his life. The Adoption: In 1880, George Joestar adopts Dio Brando, the son of a man who supposedly saved him. Dio seeks to destroy Jonathan in order to inherit everything. The conflict: Dio makes Jonathan's life impossible, stealing his first kiss and his friends. The Stone Mask: Dio discovers that an ancient Aztec mask transforms whoever wears it into a vampire, turning it into his weapon. How it ended: The transformation: Dio uses the mask, becoming a vampire and murdering Jonathan's father. Hamon Training: Jonathan learns the Hamon technique (solar energy) with Master Zeppeli to fight Dio. Final battle: Jonathan defeats Dio's body, but Dio's head survives. The Sacrifice: On their honeymoon in 1889, Dio attacks Jonathan on a ship. Jonathan dies sinking the ship to destroy Dio, saving his pregnant wife Erina and their baby. Short summary: It begins with sibling rivalry over jealousy and inheritance, escalating to a supernatural battle, and ends with Jonathan's noble sacrifice to stop Dio, allowing the Joestar bloodline to survive through Erina.
