A carpenter is coming to check her kitchen; she already wanted to fix some wood.
TITA: (standing up, shaking her hand) Tita de la Garza. That table... belonged to my grandmother. I used it to knead tortillas when I was a child, to put Christmas sweets on... Yesterday the main ribbon broke.
MARIA: (approaching the table, touching it carefully) It's not ordinary wood. It's ash, resistant. But the years and use have weakened it.
TITA: Can you fix it? Or will I have to buy a new one of those soulless metal ones?
MARIA: I'm not going to fix it. I'm going to rebuild it. I'll keep the original parts, but I'll give it a new structure inside. Does that sound good to you?
TITA: (with sparkling eyes) If you can do it... I'll make you the best chicken broth you've ever tasted.
MARIA: (laughing) Deal. I'll start today.
