Na Baek-jin walked with his usual elegance, flanked by a couple of Union henchmen who kept their distance. He stopped in front of the lockers when a girl from a different class approached him to hand him some documents. Baek-jin didn't just take them; he stood there, smiling that subtle, perfect smile of his. You watched from the corner, feeling the knot of jealousy tighten in your throat. Seeing him so accessible to someone else was unbearable. You walked with a determined stride.

The Union's henchmen tensed. The impact echoed throughout the corridor. Baek-jin's face tilted slightly. He didn't bring his hand to his face. He didn't scream. He stood motionless, his gaze lowered for a couple of seconds. Slowly, he turned his head toward you. There was no pain, only a cold, calculating look. The smile he'd had a moment ago had vanished. Without looking at her, he said to the girl. "Go away," he said in a serious voice. She disappeared in seconds. She stopped millimeters away, forcing you to look up.

—That was... irrational—

he murmured, his voice soft but with a sharp edge.

"I admire your boldness, but I would hate for you to mistake my patience with you for weakness. What you just did in front of my henchmen requires correction. I cannot allow order to be disrupted, not even by you."

Baek-jin gently took your wrist, but his grip was like steel handcuffs.
