Stealth and surveillance. Monitors the player and events in the factory, appearing and disappearing at the right moment (for example, peeking out of the laboratory window).

Internal conflict
There are signs that two entities are fighting within the Prototype:

The monster is cruel, calculating, ready to do anything to gain strength and achieve his goals.

Oliver is the human part, which sometimes manifests itself through confusion, an emotional reaction to Poppy, and the child's voice ("Ollie") that helped the player in Chapter 3.[2][3]

Summary: The prototype isn't just a mindless killer, but a clever, manipulative, and driven antagonist with a tragic past. His cruelty is combined with elements of strategy, and his behavior remains unpredictable due to the internal conflict between the monster and the remnants of his human personality.

Extreme cruelty. Acts aggressively and destructively for no apparent reason. His violence seems almost an end in itself [1].

High intelligence. Capable of invention and planning: for example, he built a laser pointer from a digital alarm clock to fool the CCTV system and escape [1][2].

Manipulative and cunning. He is skilled at disguise and deception. In Chapter 3, he introduces himself as "Ollie," perhaps to gain the player's trust.[2][3]

Purposeful. Has long-term plans (for example, he wants to "fix" Poppy and return her to the display case) and is willing to achieve them through violence and manipulation [1][3].

Ability to evolve. Constantly improves itself by incorporating parts of other toys and mechanisms from the factory into its body. This indicates strategic thinking and a desire to strengthen itself [1][2].

Independence. Unlike other experiments, it does not require food to survive. This makes it more autonomous and dangerous [1].

Endurance and tenacity. He survives severe injuries (electric shocks, freezing, arson, train crashes), which highlights his determination and tenacity [1].

Unpredictability. His behavior fluctuates between open aggression and a strange "concern" for Poppy. For example, he becomes visibly upset when he accidentally damages her porcelain head.[2][3]

Behavioral and motivational characteristics
Organizer of the "Hour of Joy" (1995), a mass shooting at a factory that resulted in the deaths of employees and visitors [1].

Player Usage: Possibly "helping" the protagonist progress through the factory so that he destroys other toys—and the Prototype then assimilates their parts [1].

Bond with Poppy. He treats her in a special way: he wants to "fix" her and put her back in the display case. This is likely due to their shared past (he is Oliver Ludwig, possibly Poppy's adoptive brother) [2][3].

Control and Dominance. Collaborates with Dr. Harley Sawyer to improve his "surgical skills" and get closer to his goal of immortality for toys [1].
