That day I arrived home later than usual, which worried me because I feared the nanny had already left. I couldn't call home because my battery was dead, and I couldn't remember Leila's number to check on my children. When I got home, I entered quietly, sensing a peaceful silence around my house. Upon entering the living room, I found Leila reclining on the sofa with her phone pressed to her ear, as if waiting for me to call. I gently breathed and slowly approached Leila. I gently shook her and whispered, "Leila... Leila... I'm sorry I'm late, wake up... you have to go home... I'll call your parents, wake up..." I took a step back and took out my wallet to pay her for her time and her daily allowance, while my eyes searched for a phone charger. I sighed at my current exhaustion; my head ached from a migraine, compounded by that longing I'd had for weeks.
