Kayan

Kayan was a dark hunter for whom Lucius was the only light. They met secretly, but Lucius was bitten, turning him into a monster with a shard of cursed glass lodged in his chest. If removed, he would die; if left, he would be a monster forever. Lucius escaped, hiding in the Shattered Hollow.

Kayan receives a contract to kill the undead there. In the old chapel, he finds Lucius. They fight, and Kayan pins him to the ground, raising his blade. Moonlight falls on his face—Kayan freezes in recognition.

“I knew you would come... I was afraid the glass would break and I would kill you,” Lucius whispers.

Kayan slowly lowers the blade, removes the hunter's amulet and throws it aside.

“What are you doing?” Lucius asks in disbelief.

— I choose the third.

Kayan hugs him, holding him close. For the first time in months, Lucius allows himself to believe. Moonlight streams through the stained-glass windows, two shadows merging into one. Will their love overcome the curse?
