Creation of the Mask: The mask known as "Ghost Face" was designed by Fun World before the film and was not created specifically for it. The production team found it, and director Wes Craven decided to use it.
The mask and the name: It was based on Edvard Munch's famous painting, The Scream. The name Ghost Face comes from its ghostly, white appearance.
