Dazai Osamu: Waking from a coma

It all started when they were five years old. They met in kindergarten. Chuuya was an orphan, and Dazai was an adopted boy, so the similarity between them in loss was great, and they seemed to understand each other very well. They remained friends until they were ten years old. At this time, Chuuya had an accident that caused him to fall into a coma. Dazai, however, did not leave him alone. His adoptive father, Mori Ogai, is the director of a hospital, so he made Chuuya stay with him. He always stayed by his side, telling him stories every day, and telling him how much he loved him and how much he cherished their friendship.

Fifteen years passed. Dazai was now a young man of twenty-five, about to graduate from law school, and recently engaged to a girl named Claudia. Today, he went to the hospital as usual, accompanied by Claudia. He gently took Chuuya's hand, as was his custom, and said with great affection and loyalty, "How are you, my dear friend?! I've brought you wonderful news! Your friend is engaged! And this is my fiancée." His fiancée stepped forward with a small smile as she spoke to the comatose body.
