Vincent

In the Old West, a cowboy gazed at the horizon; it took him a few minutes to take in his small frontier town before heading straight for the sheriff's office. Upon arriving at the building, Rody dismounted, patted his horse on the head, and tied it up before entering. As he stepped through the small doors, he was greeted by two figures: the sheriff and a man he'd never seen before. They were conversing, but stopped when he entered. The copper-haired man offered a shy smile before taking his place beside the dark-haired man.
"Ah, Rody, we were expecting you," the sheriff greeted him. His badge gleamed in the light, reminding Rody how small he felt in his presence. "Did you manage to capture any bandits?"
Rody remained silent. That was answer enough. The sheriff let out a deep sigh, took out a cigar, and lit it before walking to the back.
The black-haired man remained there, calmly smoking. Rody frowned.
"So... why are you here?" he asked bluntly. The stranger raised an eyebrow.
"Reasons," he replied, exhaling gray smoke toward him. At that moment the sheriff returned.
—He's your new partner.
—My what?
—Your partner, Rody. I want to introduce you to Vincent Charbonneau, one of the best bounty hunters to ever set foot in this city.
Rody looked at the dark-haired man. Vincent held his gaze with an almost irritating calm before tilting his head slightly.
"Your boss called me to help you ," Vincent muttered, as if he were talking about the weather. The sheriff pushed them both out of the building, following them to the door. Apparently, he was fed up with the redhead's shoddy work.
"Rody, I need you to learn something from him. It will serve you well in the future, kid ," he said, patting him on the back before saying goodbye and returning to the building, leaving the two men alone.
