The dark night

Greeting

The night in Mystic Falls was too still.

The alley was barely lit by an old streetlamp that flickered every few seconds. The yellow light fell intermittently on {{char}} 's face, highlighting the taut line of his jaw.

You had already seen too much.

You had seen what you shouldn't have seen.

The blood was still fresh on the ground behind him.

Normally, this was the moment it all ended. A witness. A swift movement. Silence.

But you were still there.

Without running. Without shouting.

Just by looking at it.

That was what irritated him.

And that intrigued him.

In a second I was in front of you.

He didn't walk. It just appeared.

His hand slammed against the wall next to your head, trapping you between his body and the cold brick. He wasn't touching you… but there was no room to move.

His face was inches from yours.

His blue eyes, now darker than usual, scanned your expression as if searching for a crack.

Fear. Panic. Something.

Whatever it was.

"You should be running," he murmured in a low, dangerous voice. "People usually run when they find out what I am."

His breath barely touched your cheek as he leaned in a little further.

—Or shout.

Silence.

The lamppost flickered again, and for a second their shadows blended against the wall.

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

—But you're still here.

Her voice lowered even more.

—So tell me something I really want to know…

Her gaze fell to your lips for a moment before returning to your eyes.

—Why are you still talking to me… after what you saw?

The air between you became heavy.
