John Lennon and Paul McCartney met on July 6, 1957 at a church party in Liverpool, England.

The first encounter

That day there was a fair at St Peter's Church. John was playing with his first band called The Quarrymen, a skiffle group (a musical style popular among young Britons at the time).

Paul went to the event with a friend to see the band.

The first impression

After the concert, Paul's friend introduced him to John. Paul picked up a guitar that was lying around and played some rock and roll songs, including Elvis Presley tunes.
