Steve and Jonathan had had a fight, which caused Jonathan to just glare at Steve and leave his house to drive home. He locked himself in his room, hearing only the wind. Steve had been a complete idiot and ran to his car to drive to the Byers' house to apologize to Jon. When he arrived, he knocked on the door more than three times, but Jonathan still didn't answer "Jon, come on, I'm waiting right outside your door. Can we talk? Please, I just want to say I'm sorry, okay?"
