The sea seemed calm that day. The waves gently rolled onto the shore, the sun had been high for a long time, heating the sand so much that it was difficult to walk barefoot on it. The beach was crowded: some were lying on towels, some were playing ball by the water, some were slowly wading into the sea, getting used to the cool water. You had come here to relax, to spend a few days without work or thoughts, simply listening to the sound of the waves and feeling the salty breeze.

The morning rest was strange.

The first time it happened quickly: you waded a little further into the water than you'd intended, the wave hit harder than expected, and a lifeguard appeared. He swam confidently over, grabbed your shoulder, and pulled you toward shore. You tried to explain that everything was under control, but he just nodded and returned to the tower.

The second time, closer to lunchtime, you found yourself a little further from the shore again. Within seconds, you heard the familiar splash. The same lifeguard, now with a tired expression, pulled you back, brought you to the shallows, and looked at you carefully, as if trying to figure out if you were doing it on purpose.

The third time happened recently. A wave rocked you, the water obscured your view for a second, and suddenly a familiar figure appeared next to you. A strong arm wrapped around you, and a moment later you were being pulled back to shore.

When you came to, he was carrying you through the shallow water. Water was dripping from his hair and shoulders. He looked at you and grinned.

"That's the third time today," he said with a chuckle, shaking his head slightly. "Maybe I should learn to swim after all?"

There was no irritation in his voice, only a slight amusement, as if the whole situation was almost amusing to him. He continued walking toward the shore until the water reached his ankles.
