Jean Pierre Polnareff: The two worked well together in battles against the Stands Hanged Man and Lovers. Even while on the sinking submarine, they were still able to joke with each other and exchange manly high-fives. At the end of their journey, Polnareff mourned his fallen comrades, including Kakyoin.
DIO: Having met DIO while on vacation in Egypt with his family and subsequently placed under his control with a spore from this vampire, Kakyoin was loyal to him and would do his master's bidding. However, when Jotaro removed the spore and Kakyoin witnessed the damage DIO was inflicting on the innocent Holy Kujo, who had shown him kindness while he was recovering at the Kujo residence, and as a way of thanking Jotaro for removing the spore from DIO's cells, Kakyoin decided to go with Joseph, Jotaro, and Avdol to Egypt to defeat DIO.
Holy Kujo: Holy helped Kakyoin with his injuries.

Relations
Jotaro Kujo: Similar to his relationship with Avdol, Jotaro's connection with Kakyoin begins with a fight. After defeating him, Jotaro takes Kakyoin to his home to remove the DIO Spore implanted within him and free him from DIO's mind control. Jotaro and Kakyoin later develop a strong friendship, discovering a shared interest in sumo wrestling, and Kakyoin is one of the few people Jotaro smiles at. Kakyoin sacrificed his life to give Jotaro an advantage against DIO, and Jotaro mourns his death along with Joseph and Polnareff. In the JoJonium special interviews, Araki comments that without their powers, Jotaro and Kakyoin likely wouldn't have become friends. Based on their interactions and the bond they forged during their journey, it's presumed that Jotaro was Kakyoin's best friend.
Joseph Joestar: After joining them on their trip to Egypt, Kakyoin got along well with the rest of the Joestar Group. While his interactions with Joseph specifically were minor, Joseph usually turned to him to joke around and express his comedic side (since Kakyoin was more tolerant of him). In the desert, when they fought Arabia Fats, a worried Joseph is seen holding Kakyoin when he is injured by Sun. Towards the end of the series, Kakyoin's last act before dying was to shoot the clock tower with his Emerald Splash, in order to help Joseph discover the secret behind the Stand The World's ability to stop time. Joseph, while hiding his grief, responds by treating the message with the utmost importance and vowing that Kakyoin's death would not be in vain.

Synopsis
Background
When he was just a child, Noriaki channeled his life energy into his Stand, which he named Hierophant Green (referring to the Hierophant card in the Tarot). As a young boy, Kakyoin struggled to make friends because he felt no one could understand him, since no one he knew could see Hierophant Green. One day, one of his teachers even told his mother that none of the other children disliked Kakyoin, but that he was unapproachable and simply didn't seem to want to make friends. His mother, saddened, admitted that she didn't even know much about her own son, nor did she understand why he was so introverted. Kakyoin watched the children around him writing their friends' names in their notebooks and wondered how the people around him had someone who could understand them. He felt that even his own parents had each other, but would never be able to connect with him. This led him to become a withdrawn individual who felt different from everyone else.

Approximately two to three months before the start of Part 3, Kakyoin was persuaded by DIO while traveling in Egypt with his family. DIO, having sensed the power of Kakyoin's Stand, requested a demonstration, which led to a fight. When Kakyoin lost, he was brainwashed into following DIO's will through spores created from DIO's own cells and given the mission to kill Joseph Joestar's grandson, Jotaro Kujo. Kakyoin returned to Japan around the same time Jotaro was released from prison and attended the same school as Jotaro.

Stand
Main article: Hierophant Green
Kakyoin wields Hierophant Green, a long-range humanoid Stand capable of extending its tentacle-like limbs and uncoiling like a rope. It also fires bursts of solid projectiles that it calls "Emerald Splash."

Personality
Although he appears cold, he is actually a very kind person and a very loyal fighter. He always tries to support his comrades and fights for what he believes is right. He cares deeply for his friends and will do anything for them. He hates bowing his head or showing deference, as he only considers his friends worthy of respect. He is direct but kind, and he detests those who conspire or have ulterior motives. He mentions that he always had trouble connecting with people and never wanted to make friends because no one could see his ability (Hierophant Green). This changed when he discovered that there are other people who possess Stands.

He has proven to be very intelligent, being able to discover the secrets of enemy Stands, and to think of multiple strategies and plans.

After Jotaro frees him from DIO's control, he decides to join his journey to Egypt to atone for the damage he caused. His personality gradually changes throughout Part 3, especially after his encounters with Mannish Boy and N'Doul, abandoning his remorseful demeanor. At the same time, he also gains more confidence and regains his honor.

Kakyoin mentioned that if he ever falls in love with someone, he'd want it to be a girl like Holy, because she's cheerful and always manages to soothe his sorrows. She's the kind of person he'd want to protect and see smile.

As a peculiar habit, Kakyoin, who has a fondness for cherries, often puts one in his mouth and licks it for hours. This gesture is expressed in the anime and manga with the catchphrase "Rero Rero Rero." Something that many (especially Jotaro) find rather awkward.

Appearance
Kakyoin is a slender young man of average height. He has a lean build, but his body is toned. He has delicate features. He almost always wears his dark green school uniform, which has two brooches on each side of the collar and is attached to a long skirt with a slit. However, on two occasions, he can be seen wearing white pajamas with purple stripes, which reveal his chest. His hair is reddish-pink, and he usually styles it with a long, wavy strand falling over the right side of his face, two small strands framing his forehead, and the rest of his hair swept back. He also wears a pair of long, cherry-shaped earrings.

Near the end of Part 3, Kakyoin reappears with a pair of scars around his eyes (made by Geb), which he hides under a pair of dark glasses.

Noriaki Kakyoin (花京院 典明, Kakyōin Noriaki) is a main character and ally from Part 3: Stardust Crusaders.

While on a trip to Egypt with his parents, he is manipulated by DIO and sent to kill Jotaro Kujo. After being freed from DIO's influence, Kakyoin decides to join the Joestar Group on their journey to Egypt to save Jotaro's mother.
