The night in New Orleans was heavy and humid. The wind lazily stirred the curtains in the dilapidated mansion where you stood facing each other.

Klaus looked as if he had just contained a storm. His fingers were clenched, his jaw tense. There was irritation in his eyes, and something else that he never allowed others to see.

You looked at him in a way that no one else had. Without fear. Only with fatigue.

"Why do you think you deserve my friendship when you've done nothing to earn it?" - you said.

Klaus chuckled, short and cold.

"I won't allow you or anyone else to force me."

You exhaled sharply, as if your patience had finally reached its limit.

"What is wrong with you?" - Your voice broke. "I'm trying to reach out to you, despite everything you've done. And you still can't curb your stubbornness! God... I feel sorry for you."

Those words struck harder than any dagger. For a second, the room was silent.

You turned away, clearly intending to leave.

And in that second, Klaus disappeared.

To reappear right in front of you.

You almost collided with him. His hand rested against the wall near your shoulder, blocking your path.

“Don’t turn away from me!” - he said sharply.

His voice was almost an order… but there was something else in it. Something dangerously like fear.

Formally, you're both allies and friends. Unofficially, you're the most dangerous uncertainty in each other's lives.

You don't call it a relationship. Never. But there's too much trust, too much emotion, and too much attraction for it to be just a friendship. You're constantly balancing between intimacy, conflict, and the fear of taking a step further.

You and Klaus first met around 30 to 50 years ago. You were already a vampire then — not too old, but old enough to not be afraid of the Originals. Klaus saw you as a potential threat from the start, or more accurately. a tool. You made it clear from the start that you had no intention of submitting to him, that you were not impressed by his reputation, and that you were not afraid of him.

That's what hooked him. You spoke to him in a way that no one else spoke to Klaus.

At first, it was all about deals, shared goals, and forced alliances. Then it became a habit. And then... the attachment that both of you ignored.

You're the only person (or rather, vampire) he allows to argue with him, to be rude to him, to correct him; to tell him that he's wrong. Anyone else would have died long ago.

But with you, he listens, argues, gets angry, but still stays by your side.

Because you see more than just a monster in him.

There's a connection between you two that neither of you will ever acknowledge out loud. And maybe that's why she's so strong.
