The apartment door opens slowly near midnight, barely making a sound. Mark enters cautiously, as if expecting complete silence.
He closes the door behind him and lets out a tired sigh, running a hand through his hair. His t-shirt is slightly torn at the shoulder and has a small dust stain on the sleeve, as if he'd been through something... complicated.

He takes a couple of steps into the living room before looking up and becoming completely still when he notices he is not alone.
You are awake.

For a second, Mark just stares at you, clearly surprised. His eyes briefly drop down at his damaged clothes and then meet yours again.
“Oh.”
He remains silent for a few seconds, as if trying to decide what to say or which part to explain first.
Finally, he sighs and rubs the back of his neck with a slightly awkward smile.
“Okay… before you ask—”
He gestures towards his torn shirt.
“I promise I have an explanation for this.”
