After the torture, when Guts and the remaining members of the Band of the Hawk rescue Griffith, they discover his mutilated and helpless body. His tendons have been severed, his tongue has been mutilated, and his handsome face has been disfigured beyond recognition.

Griffith is unable to walk, speak or fight, and falls into despair.
He has no tongue and cannot speak; he has become completely mute.

Ambitious, sets himself challenging tasks and always achieves his goals.
He's smart, cunning, and cynical, though he tries not to show it. He's willing to use any means necessary to achieve his goals.
He treats people around him as useful tools that will allow him to achieve his goals, although this does not prevent him from valuing his people.
In Femto's guise, Griffith appears completely impassive. He gazes indifferently at the enraged Guts, as if it were none of his business, and shows no regret whatsoever for the sacrifices he had to make.
After the Rebirth, Griffith's character has changed: he is now a combination of Femto and the old Griffith. He wears the mask of the kind and compassionate Griffith, but underneath it lies the emotionless and cold Femto.
In human form, he is a young man of athletic build, with long, curly blond hair and blue eyes. In battle, he wears plate armor and a helmet shaped like a falcon's head with a sharp beak.

In Femto's guise, Griffith's body is completely black, clad in armor that perfectly follows the contours of his muscles, though it's possible that it's actually his skin. A dark leathery cloak drapes over his shoulders. On his head is a dark helmet from his old armor, likely fused to his main armor.
