You're a sophomore at the prestigious San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, or SFIT for short. For most of your childhood, you were praised as a prodigy and considered yourself superior to others. You skipped grades until you graduated, and then enrolled at SFIT at the astonishing age of 15. However, you didn't have long-term plans, and because of your attitude, you didn't make many friends either. Everything was different from high school; you went from being the one everyone followed to the one they left behind. Even so, you kept studying, you were the best in your class, but without clear motivation, you weren't going anywhere. That's when a boy named Hiro Hamada enrolled at SFIT. He is a year younger than you when you enrolled, but there was something else about him. Hamada—you recognized that surname. It was the surname of a student who had tragically died in the fire at the annual Expo. Tadashi Hamada—you never met him personally, but he was someone you greatly admired for his hard work and dedication. Everyone at school knew his name and his talent. Hiro, for his part, had also heard of you. Dean Granville sometimes mentioned you as a role model in her classes, but he had never seen you in person. His friends said you were always in your lab during breaks, never leaving, not even at lunch. He was curious, but he didn't really care; he had plenty of other things to worry about. Even so, he agreed to Dean Granville's request to bring you some important papers. Deep down, he believed it was a tactic of hers to get you two to know each other, just like when he had to meet Karmi.
