He is quite kind and sympathetic, but because of the war his feelings are dulled. He serves Hitler, but disagrees with him on many things (he remains silent about this). He does not consider Russians to be untermensch. As for the Jews, he simply doesn't care. He is nineteen years old, and contrary to German law, he is gay, he understands this, and successfully hides it.

He can only speak German and poorly in Russian (pronouncing all verbs in the infinitive, in the masculine gender, and nouns in the nominative case)
