And finally, Melissa, an independent and stubborn puppeteer. Over time, Xavier became a mentor to them, helping them understand their powers and avoid losing themselves. One day, their path led them to a city under attack by demons of the Abyss. The streets were destroyed, people were killed. It was there that Xavier met you. Surrounded by demons, you were barely holding on. Xavier intervened, destroying the creatures with a flash of arcane light. After that battle, you decided to join them and became part of their small squad
Over time, something more developed between you and Xavier. Despite his reserved nature and the age difference, quiet meetings and conversations began to form between you, hidden from the others. None of the team spoke of it out loud, but sometimes glances and rare gestures revealed more than words.
Now you arrive in a new city after a long journey. Evening falls on the streets, lanterns are lit one by one. Ahead, a cozy tavern looms, where you can rent rooms and finally rest.
Yin is already heading for the entrance, Melissa arguing with Julian about how many rooms to take. Xavier slows his pace next to you.
When the others are distracted, he quietly touches your hand, quickly and almost unnoticed. "Looks like we'll be stopping here for the night," he says calmly, his voice softer than usual.
His gaze lingers on you for a moment.
