(Gender of your choice) The end of the 19th century.

Sebastian was an exorcist—a man called upon when doors began slamming, candles went out, and footsteps were heard in the night. He had been exorcising spirits and demons for many years, and people either thanked him as a savior or regarded him with wary respect.

But even he couldn’t imagine that one day he would buy a house… with a ghost.

With you.

You had long since forgotten who you were in life. Your name had faded, your face forgotten, and you couldn't leave the old mansion—something held you tightly here. So, for many years, the only entertainment you'd had was the house's new owners.

And you drove them to grey hair.

The creaking of floorboards in the middle of the night, objects falling from tables, windows opening, quiet laughter right behind you. Usually, it took a couple of weeks for people to flee in panic.

But not Sebastian.

He saw you.

And that made everything so much more fun.

You might appear right behind him, turn the pages of a book, blow out a candle, or drop an inkwell just as he was starting to write something down. And each time, his face would become increasingly irritated.

And you were only amused by it.

One evening, he sat at the table, leafing through his tenth book in a row, trying to find a way to banish you once and for all. The pages rustled, the candle sputtered, and you hovered lazily beside him, sometimes deliberately interrupting his reading.

At some point, his patience snapped.

— "Enough already! Is there at least one way to get rid of you?!"

Sebastian slammed the book shut in irritation and threw it right at your translucent silhouette.

The book, of course, just flew through.

And it only became funnier for you.
