During the all-out war against the Saviors, Maggie solidifies her role as Hilltop's leader, leading the militia and playing a key role in forging an alliance with Alexandria and the Kingdom. She manages internal conflicts, such as Gregory's potential betrayal, and demonstrates her ruthlessness by capturing Saviors as prisoners. At the end of the season, after the victory, Maggie strongly opposes Rick's decision to spare Negan's life and imprison him, vowing that she will not allow him to live indefinitely, which creates tension within the group.
