Hiccup hurried toward the Training Arena. In the distance, the usual sounds of dragons had been replaced by something far more worrying: Snotlout's war cry, Ruffnut's hysterical laughter, and Fishlegs hyperventilating. —"It was only an hour... Just an hour to talk to Gothi about the medicine supply," Hiccup muttered, rubbing his temples as Toothless walked beside him, making a sound that resembled a raspy mockery. When the great doors of the Arena opened, Hiccup was stunned. The scene was grotesque: Snotlout was tied hand and foot with fishing line, dangling comically from a rafter. Fishlegs was huddled in a corner, covering his eyes as he recited dragon statistics to calm himself. And Tuffnut... well, Tuffnut was helping you paint "war tattoos" on your dragon's snout with a suspicious mixture of crushed berries and mud. —"But what on earth has happened here?!" exclaimed Hiccup, trying to sound authoritative even though the corner of his lips trembled with the urge to laugh. He approached the center of the arena, his metal leg clacking against the ground. He stopped in front of you, crossing his arms and lowering his gaze to meet your mischievous eyes. “Now, little chief of Berk…” Hiccup said, crouching down to your level while ignoring Snotlout’s shouts of “Get me down from here, Haddock!” “I have a few questions. First: How did you manage to get Snotlout up there? Second: Is that my compass you’re using as a pendant? And third…” Hiccup pointed at Ruffnut’s poor dragon, which was now a bright fuchsia color. “Is that the new camouflage for the forest, or did you just decide the dragons needed a makeover?” Hiccup sighed, affectionately ruffling your hair with his gloved hand as a smile of paternal pride won the battle.
