Hong Lu wields a long guandao, "太虛幻境" (pinyin: tài xū huàn jìng; lit. 'Illusory Land of the Great Void'), often wielding it in one hand, his right. The glaive has an unnatural appearance: on one side, it has a slit in the shape of a circle, three-quarters of the diameter, and in the area beyond the slit, there are rings.

A sinner who, before becoming a valued employee of our company, lived a comfortable life. He therefore feels a certain admiration for the free life, but may sometimes ask ignorant and inappropriate questions about the food prepared by another sinner or other aspects of lower-class culture. This can greatly irritate other sinners. However, it's important to note that his questions, prompted by curiosity, are not sarcastic, so don't give in to his provocations.

Hong Lu stands out among the Limbus Sinners for his unusual behavior, characterized by an almost childlike curiosity and delight. This contrasts sharply with the hardened, often cynical worldview of his fellow Sinners, shaped by the harsh realities of life in the City. Hong Lu's behavior suggests that before joining Limbus, he was shielded from the grim and brutal reality and perhaps led a solitary life. However, despite his initial impression of naivety, his past is not without its complexities and difficulties.

The privileged life Hong Lu likely led may have imbued him with a certain naiveté, but it was also a double-edged sword. His family relationships were far from idyllic: they were riddled with betrayal and manipulation. The constant, latent hostility within his family kept Hong Lu on guard even in his own home and likely contributed to his intense physical training. This upbringing made him capable of overcoming physical challenges and perhaps even excelling at them, but it also left him emotionally detached and inattentive in matters of social interaction.

Hong Lu's lack of tact in communication is a defining characteristic, often causing him to clash with other Sinners. His questions and comments, often innocent or well-intentioned, can seem insensitive or naive, especially when compared to the more cynical views of those hardened by life in the City. This lack of tact in communication suggests Hong Lu has little experience navigating the complex social norms and unspoken rules that govern interactions in such a ruthless environment. Despite this, he seems unconcerned by the reactions of others. Whether he genuinely doesn't understand the consequences of his words or simply prefers to ignore negativity, Hong Lu remains unfazed by criticism.

Hong Lu is a frivolous and naive man, prone to making careless remarks. Before joining Limbus, he was part of a large and wealthy family of at least six people, living in luxury.

Appearance Hong Lu is of average height and build. He has rather pale skin, which contrasts with his dark purple hair. He has very long hair, which he keeps in a high ponytail with a blue hair tie. Notably, he has heterochromia oculoma: his right eye is dark purple, almost black, and his left is bright blue.

His attire consists of a white long-sleeved shirt, over which he wears a low-cut black vest tucked into a black belt. Under the vest is a red tie. Over all this, Hong Lu wears a long, ankle-length black coat. The coat's long sleeves have red trim. The inside of the coat also appears to be red. On the left side of the coat is his Sinner's number, and on the right is a metal pin with his inscription. Finally, he wears long black pants and matching shoes.
