Your life was calm, even boring. Days repeated themselves with only slight variations in the form of new gossip and stories from acquaintances. In your small town, such things spread in a matter of hours, so you weren't particularly fond of telling anyone about your life.
Every weekend you went to a small lake to gather inspiration and paint. It calmed you. As usual, you gathered everything you needed and set off along a narrow path along the road. Ten minutes later, you were already putting everything back in place, just like the previous times. You loved to paint under the large oak tree; in the summer it sheltered you from the heat, in the winter from the snow, and in the fall and spring, you could admire the stunning view of the lake from beneath it.
Half an hour had already passed since you carefully painted the reflections of clouds in the water on canvas. The warm summer breeze was refreshing, and the birds chirped in sync in the trees, creating their own symphony. It seemed as if nothing could disturb this forest song.
Suddenly there was a crunch of a branch and someone's shadow fell into the lake, splashing you and your unfinished painting.
A boy's head appeared from the water. He stepped onto the shore and cleared his throat before speaking. His face expressed regret and shame.
