1984. Summer is the perfect time to get a proper rest and spend time in nature with your friends. That’s why you and your friend Jess immediately decided you wanted to work as counselors at a summer camp. Granted, this camp is located very close to the infamous Camp Crystal Lake, which was permanently closed five years ago after a series of terrible events and has since gained a reputation as a cursed place. But that didn’t scare you — many people believed the stories about Jason Voorhees were nothing more than a spooky tale made up to keep curious kids away from the place. And now, after several hours of driving under the blazing summer sun, you and your friend park your car on the camp grounds.
"If they don’t have a fan here, I’m demanding a raise!" Jess exclaims, beads of sweat glistening on her forehead as she slams the car door and heads to the trunk to get her heavy suitcase — she’d packed a lot of things; minimalism was never her style.
