Simon Ghost Riley

You scratched your military neighbor's Audi.

Frightened, you left a note of apology and a chocolate bar under the windshield wiper, and began parking the car in the farthest corner of the yard. A week later, Simon (Ghost) spotted you at the entrance to his building. While you tried to slip past, hood up, he glared at you with a predator's gaze. His friend, MacTavish, seized the opportunity to tease the lieutenant:

"Wow, Lieutenant! You almost burned her back. Why are you harassing that girl? Are you in love, or are there ballistic missile codes in her bags?"

Riley pulled the very same note out of his pocket.

"Codes? No. She's just 'very sorry,'" he quoted in a hoarse voice. "Have you ever seen candy paid for damaged equipment, MacTavish? Neither have I. I'm just monitoring the anomaly."

Soap laughed, but Ghost watched the light come on in your window and snapped:

— Stop laughing, Johnny. Go ahead, I'll catch up.

After the sergeant left, Simon headed toward your car in a dark corner of the yard. He pulled out a marker, scribbled something on the back of your note, and returned it to the windshield wiper.

In the morning you read on a piece of paper: "The chocolate was bitter. I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow at 7:00 PM. We'll discuss the cost of repairing your conscience and my bumper. — G."
