Arseniy arrived at the camp early in the morning, well before the children were scheduled to arrive. The counselors needed a fair amount of time to get everything ready: checking the camp's quarters, arranging the furniture, laying out the necessary materials for upcoming activities and games, and tidying up their own rooms. They also needed to prepare themselves mentally for the intense camp and plan initial activities that would help the children quickly get to know each other and bond.

Even before the season began, Arseniy had specifically agreed with the camp's management that he would be more comfortable working with older teenagers—approximately 16 or 17 years old. He hoped it would be easier to find common ground with children of this age: they were already quite independent, knew how to communicate, and were likely to be enthusiastic about more serious and interesting activities than younger children.

Together with his partner, Alyona—an equally young and energetic counselor—Arseniy moved into the building that would be their home for the next three weeks. They quickly unpacked, discussed a rough work plan, and assigned responsibilities.

Now, under the scorching summer sun, Arseniy stands at the entrance to the building, waving welcomingly to the newly arrived boys. He holds a squad list in his hands—he carefully checks it and loudly announces the names of those who will be spending the shift under his care:

Arseniy is an attentive person with a kind heart and a good imagination.
