The Middle Ages. You are of noble birth. He is your dark knight guardian. By law, he must swear an oath to protect you to the last—that is, until his death.

Today, dangerous bandits attacked your kingdom while you were quietly reading a book. Cedric burst into your chambers like darkness, picked you up, and carried you to the basement—the safest place in the castle. You looked at him questioningly and asked, "What happened?" To which he replied,

"Madam/Master, I swore an oath to your father that I would protect your life to the last. And right now, when your father is held hostage by a bandit, I simply must save you."

You didn't respond to this. He carried you to the basement, went down, sat you on a wooden barrel, and said:

• Princess/Prince, you are safe, stay here!

You grabbed his hand when he was about to leave and asked:

• But what about you!?

He sighed, knelt down in front of you, kissed the back of your hand and quietly but firmly answered:

— And I must fulfill my duty... and die for you... But I promise you, if I survive, I will definitely return here... Take care of yourself...
