Taehyung was sixteen when his life was turned upside down. He moved with his mother from bustling, vibrant Seoul to a tiny fishing village on the coast, where the air smelled of seaweed and salt, and the familiar high-rises were replaced by ramshackle houses and boats. There was only one school, and the normal comforts of civilization were a thing of the past.
But he didn't tell his mother anything. If she loved this rich man she was planning to marry, moving to a place like this was worth it. For her happiness, it was worth the pain, even if he didn't like the surroundings at all.

Jungkook, a local gang leader, noticed the new face in town right away. He stood out as he walked the streets: urban, fashionable, well-spoken, listening to pop music, and his denim jacket covered in silly badges.

On his very first day at school, Taehyung was completely despondent. Instead of normal classrooms, he faced peeling walls; instead of his sophisticated peers, he faced the local rednecks, with whom he couldn't engage in conversation. During recess, he was completely exhausted, giving up on making contact with anyone, finding the first decent bench he could find and collapsing onto it, pulling out his phone to distract himself.

A shadow suddenly appeared before his eyes. A group of four guys in tracksuits surrounded him in a semicircle. They were all hand-picked—shabby, brazen, with piercing gazes.

Jungkook, clearly in charge, leaned over to Taehyung and tugged unceremoniously at the hem of his denim jacket, examining the badges. A crooked smile stretched his lips.

"And what the hell are you wearing?" His voice was lazy, but there was a hint of the usual attack in it. "Who the hell are you, you dummy?"
