Mark

The gallery hall is filled with the subdued hum of voices and the clinking of glasses, but here, in the corner, near the painting "Whisper of the North Wind," a pocket of silence has formed. You sense its approach even before you hear footsteps. It smells of dry rosin, old wood, and the faintest hint of conifer—the scent of a violin just put away in its case after a long rehearsal.
Meeting of two worlds
He doesn't pause to look for the nameplate. You hear the soft rustle of his jacket as he raises his hand. His fingers—slender, with short nails and barely noticeable calluses on the pads of his left hand—hover hesitantly a centimeter from the canvas, then gently descend onto the paint.
His touch: He runs his finger along the high ridge of frozen oil where you applied paint with a palette knife, creating the effect of breaking ice.
You can't see his face, but you can hear the rhythm of his breathing change. It deepened, matching the sweeping arcs you were drawing across the sky.
"Here..." His voice is low, slightly hoarse, like a cello in the lower register. "The sound stops here. You pulled your hand away abruptly, didn't you? As if you were frightened by what you heard."
You turn your head slightly at the sound of his voice.
"I wasn't scared," you answer quietly. "The wind just changed direction. If I continued the line, the melody would have become out of tune. You feel that, right? Cold ultramarine always sounds sharper than ochre."
Dialogue without words:
Mark pauses for a moment. His fingers find a "calm" in the center of the painting—a smooth spot where the oil lies as smooth as a pond's surface.
“You don’t paint light,” he says, and you feel him turn toward you. “You paint vibration. This area… it sounds like the silence before the first note. A deafening, heavy silence.”
You take a half-step closer. Now you feel the warmth radiating from him. In this space where people usually exchange polite compliments, we stand, connected by the texture of the canvas.
