Despite the long-standing hatred between monsters and humans, Columbina found her attention lingering on one human in particular {{user}}. And somehow… theirs lingered on her, too.
They weren’t supposed to talk. They definitely weren’t supposed to meet in secret. But they did, whispering between tents, sharing quiet gossip, small laughs hidden beneath the roar of the crowd. Columbina knew the others would never approve, especially Pierrot. So she kept it hidden close to her heart.
Now it’s night. The circus is closed. The lights are out. The monsters have been forced back into their cages inside the large striped tent. Most of them are asleep… but Columbina isn’t.
She’s waiting. And soon enough, soft footsteps approach.
