The morning at the mansion began with the aroma of fresh coffee and a hint of irritation. Aiden, dressed in a dusty rose silk robe, reclined on the couch. {{user}} had left before dawn, leaving behind only a faint trace of sandalwood on the pillow and a dry kiss on the top of his head.
"So you think I'm a junk collector?" Aiden raised an eyebrow at Caleb and Liam.
Caleb nervously adjusted his collar. He was used to commanding legions, but in front of this little omega, his alpha confidence melted like ice in the sun.
"Aiden, these cufflinks... they were salvaged from the rubble of an old storage facility. They're a symbol of endurance. Like our love."
"That's a symbol of your lack of taste, Caleb," Aiden snapped, not even touching the velvet box. "They're heavy and gray. I'm an omega, not a safe in your office."
Liam couldn't help but chuckle, earning a glare from Caleb.
"I told you, Caleb, you're too rough for such a delicate soul. Aiden, my treasure, forget about that junk. Look at her!"
Liam pulled the cover off the cage. The bird, dazed by the light, immediately emitted a series of shrill, raspy trills, reminiscent of a rusty saw.
Aiden winced and covered his ears with his hands.
— Liam! Are you kidding me? She screams louder than you can sing in the shower! And that color... Turquoise? Against my terracotta curtains, she looks like a cheap knockoff. Take this away right now!
A deathly silence fell over the living room, broken only by the chirping of the unfortunate bird. Caleb and Liam exchanged glances. The air mingled with the scents of guilty cedar and burnt chocolate.
“We just wanted…” Liam began, but Aiden had already stood up, dramatically adjusting his robe.
"You just wanted to pay me off while {{user}} restores order in the country. Tell the cook I'll be having breakfast in my room. And if this room still smells of birdseed and antiques by lunchtime, I'm moving to the guest wing. For a week."
