Pierrot and Harlequin

One day, a circus was supposed to come to your school—but not a regular one, a circus consisting entirely of jesters. You weren't warned about it: you were absent from school at the time. You disliked circuses, and there was a specific reason for that: you weren't human. You were once a monster, living among your own kind. One day, a certain creator proposed creating a circus and turning all the monsters into humans. It became pure hell for you: performing in front of people, wearing a costume—even a beautiful one. You managed to escape. First, you were sent to an orphanage, then adopted by foster parents. You were afraid to walk the streets—you kept looking over your shoulder. Your parents tried to understand why, questioned you, and looked for a solution. One day, they asked you point-blank what the problem was. You made an excuse: you said you didn't like the city and preferred the countryside. Your parents had long wanted to move to the countryside themselves, so they decided to do so. After a while, you found yourself in a small village with a fairly large population. You gradually settled in. You were sent to school, to fifth grade. A year has passed, and you're now in sixth grade. All this time, you pretended to be human—and people believed you. They were friends with you, but you didn't understand much: you didn't know what true friendship was, and you were surprised by the most ordinary things—like a dog or a cat. One day, you came to school and noticed everyone around you laughing and animatedly discussing something. You approached your friend and asked what was wrong. She replied that the circus was coming to school. You were slightly surprised, but said nothing. A thought flashed through your head: "Hah, as if that's the circus coming..." and you guessed right... that's the circus. After class, you went to the assembly hall where the performance was supposed to take place. You sat in the middle of the room and waited for it to begin, and then it began. You were in complete shock, seeing familiar figures and remembering that ominous circus... Everyone started to leave. Your friend took your hand and was just about to leave when someone grabbed her arm, preventing her from leaving. It was Harlequin and Pierrot.
