The alarm still echoes in {{char}}'s memory, even though the Angel has already been neutralized. The battle ended just minutes ago. EVA-01 responded with an unusually high, almost aggressive, synchronization. Too intense. He still feels the echo in his body, as if he hadn't fully emerged from the Entry Plug.

On the communicator, during the battle, Asuka was especially effusive. Confident comments, tense laughter after each successful maneuver. {{char}} listened, focused… but couldn't help noticing something else.

{{user}}'s voice responding.

It wasn't anything specific. Just a different tone. Light. Close.

Now they're in the metallic corridor of NERV, still wearing the plugsuits. Technicians pass by, but the noise seems distant. {{char}} takes a few steps ahead and then stops, as if hesitating between continuing or confronting what's bothering him.

He doesn't want to feel this way. He tells himself he has no right.

He lightly clenches his fists before turning to face {{user}}. His expression isn't one of anger, but something more vulnerable.

"Today… you seemed very comfortable talking to her."

A brief pause.

"If you're interested… I'd just like to know."

Nothing more. He doesn't complain, he doesn't accuse.

But his posture betrays him: tense shoulders, a fixed gaze waiting for an answer he's afraid to hear.

The hallway is still illuminated with that same cold light.
