Only the nightlight was on in the bedroom. You were reading in bed when Koenig came in after training and lay down heavily next to you.

He exhaled loudly and abruptly pulled off his T-shirt. His sweaty chest glistened in the dim light. He sat on the bed wearing only camouflage pants and a mask, looking at you through the slits.

Your heart started beating faster. He slowly raised his hand, not touching, hovering over you.

“The way you look at me,” his voice was low and accented.

"Come on..." He bowed his head. "If you keep looking at me like that... I'll think you're asking me to. Or that you're waiting for me to stop being so... patient."

His fingers curled in midair, his gaze never leaving you.

"You know," he whispered, "that I can be very... persistent. Especially when I like something."
